Belfast Cohousing Are Seeking New Members
You don’t need any specific skills or abilities to join our community, just passion to develop a community-led housing project within the heart of Belfast, and willingness to learn new things!
Since all of our community members have a key role in project development and decision-making, we strongly encourage anyone interested to join us ASAP.

Types of Membership
We have a range of membership options for anyone who is interested in our project. Please see below to see where you might fit in:
Friend of Belfast Cohousing: We welcome the support of advocates and champions of cohousing. Anyone can become a Friend, with no cost and no obligation; it puts you on our mailing list and you will hear about our progress. You can attend and observe full community meetings e.g. our AGM.
Associate Member (more committed friend of Belfast Cohousing): As an Associate Member, we would welcome your contribution to one of our working circles that have responsibility for furthering the project. Current circles include lobbying, membership, communications, finance and fundraising. We ask for a suggested annual fee of £20 (minimum £10).
Cooperative Members: Cooperative members are full decision makers within the Management Circle, and at least one working circle, using the consent model (sociocracy). There is a suggested £50 fee to be a Cooperative member (minimum £20), in addition to the £1 Cooperative share.
Equity Members: Eventually, once we have a site, a business plan etc. We will be able to forecast the financial commitment that each member will have to make. As a Mutual Home Ownership Society, we will have one mortgage, and Equity Members will pay a % of that mortgage. Equity members will be residents (adult members of each household) in the cohousing development.
Belfast Cohousing
